Ideally, children should first visit the dentist after their first birthday, or 6 months after their teeth first erupt- whichever comes first.
This is a great way to form a healthy relationship with your dentist, and to check for issues such as baby bottle tooth decay. This can be done during your regular check-up, and routine check-ups for your child should follow every six months.
Looking after your child’s teeth
It is important to look after your child’s teeth from the moment they start teething. Keeping your child’s teeth and gums clean will protect against infection, cavities and pain. Decayed baby teeth can damage the permanent teeth underneath.
